NSW Interstate Inspection
For eligible NSW light vehicles temporarily outside NSW and more than 50 km from the NSW border. This is an interstate inspection-report pathway, not a standard NSW eSafety pink slip issued in Queensland.

Current Queensland prescribed inspection fee for a light motor vehicle up to 4.5t GVM, effective 1 July 2026. Separately authorised repairs, parts and other work are not included in the inspection fee.
Inspection scope
A safety inspection focused on minimum roadworthy standards.
A roadworthy inspection checks specified safety-related systems and vehicle condition. It is not the same as a comprehensive mechanical inspection or pre-purchase assessment.

Tyres, wheels & brakes
Tread, condition, wheel security and applicable braking components are assessed against inspection requirements.

Relevant steering and suspension components are checked for condition, security and excessive wear or movement.

Lights, glazing & body
Required lighting, windscreen condition, body integrity and other applicable safety items are inspected.

Do I need a safety certificate before I advertise my car for sale?
Queensland no longer requires a current safety certificate before you advertise a registered vehicle for sale. In most private-sale situations you still need a current safety certificate before disposing of the registered vehicle to the buyer.
How long is a Queensland safety certificate valid?
For most private sales it is current for 2 months or 2,000 km, whichever happens first. Dealer certificates are generally current for 3 months or 1,000 km, whichever happens first.
Is a roadworthy inspection a full mechanical inspection?
No. It verifies minimum safety standards for the inspection items. It does not predict component life, identify every mechanical issue or replace a comprehensive pre-purchase inspection.
